NERVE SHEATH MYXOMA (NEUROTHEKEOMA)

This is the classical nerve sheath myxoma described by Reed and Harkin. The term 'neurothekeoma' has also been used for this tumor as well as for other tumors considered to be variants. Myxoid lobules having pushing borders are characteristic, and these lobules occur in the dermis and subcutis. The spindle cells are S-100 positive in contrast with the negative result in the tumor that has been designated as 'cellular neurothekeoma'.
